Western Digital Blue SN550 1Tb NVMe SSD specs

Blue SN550 (1Tb) produced by Western Digital use SanDisk 20-82-01008-A1 controller. The Blue SN550 comes equipped with SanDisk 3D TLC memory. NVMe SSD also available in 500 Gb and 250 Gb capacities.

Performance and benchmarks

Drive works on PCIe M.2 3.0 x 4 interface with sequential write speeds equals to 1950 Mbps, and maximum read speeds 2400 Mbps. It also has IOPS 405000 on writing and 410000 on reading operations.

Endurance and warranty

Manufacturer give 5-year warranty that limited by endurance 600 Total Bytes Written.

Blue SN550 (1Tb) produced by Western Digital support PCIe Gen3 that is undoubtedly slower than PCIe 4.0. The maximum write speed is 1950 Mb/s, that is slower than has most of competitors. The NVMe provide possibility to write 600 TBW, that is poor compared to competitors. When everything is weighed in the balance, Western Digital Blue SN550 1Tb has more minuses and our editor highly do not recommend to buy it.

The Western Digital Blue SN550 1Tb has no dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) or data about it is not known. Dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) makes drive faster, but more expensive.

The Blue SN550 1Tb due to the low density of memory chips can last with no extra heat sinks. Some motherboards or laptops from the factory has thermal pads above or below the SSD for improving performance during times of high loads.

The Blue SN550 1Tb has sequential write speed 1950 Mb per second, sequential read speed 2400 Mbps. It operate on SanDisk 20-82-01008-A1 controller and M.2 3.0 x 4 interface standard. The NAND flash memory type is SanDisk 3D TLC.
